COVID-19 has impacted religious services of all kinds and The Islamic Center of Fairfield (Masjid Al Noor) on Kidder Avenue is no exception. According to the website, they have “canceled all in-house prayers and the services, except for JUMA prayers.” Those prayer sessions are held in the afternoons in the parking lot. The participants at the Islamic Center have been encouraged to pray from home and virtual classes continue to be offered to children. Those who choose to attend for the JUMA prayers are asked to follow social distancing guidelines, which includes bringing a personal prayer mat and wearing a mask. Nobody under 13 will be allowed to participate in the in-person prayers, and those who are showing signs of illness are encouraged to stay home.
