Through the Lens: Our Fruitful Heritage
Vacaville Museum Exhibit
VACAVILLE – The Vacaville Museum brings the colorful history of the area to life with this vibrant photographic exhibit. Witness the region’s culture on display and celebrated for new generations to admire. Discover a humble, successful story of produce and fruit-growing, focusing on its heyday from 1870 to 1880. The display features color plates from a book by William Nutting, a Californian photographer of the time. Some special attractions include interactive maps to find where you live and what it was like then, and old images with newer, contemporary photos shot from the same vantage point to illustrate the changes. Finally, an original fruit wagon vignette and recreated hands-on cutting and packing shed for adult viewing and children’s activities will be available.
