Fall back to the way it was
Sunday, November 5, will soon be upon us and this date can be both a blessing and a curse. That is when we set our clocks back for the end of Daylight Saving Time.
Those who normally wake up at 6 am will have the luxury of sleeping in one hour, waking up at what used to be 7 am. The curse is having to adjust sleeping and eating schedules to account for the time difference.
Daylight Saving Time is a system where clocks are moved one hour forward or backward to make more efficient use of natural daylight. Daylight Saving Time for 2017 started on March 12 and will last until November 5. There will be no need to prepare, that extra hour can go a long way.
While many people take credit for the system, one of the most prominent people who first suggested it was Benjamin Franklin, although it was not enacted during his time. It was picked up by William Willett, who ended up having it passed as a mandatory law in 1916, after the Germans had done so. Most of North America and Western Europe still use Daylight Saving Time as do many countries around the world, although the start and end dates vary from nation to nation.
