The California dream
Far from Home
Last year, Christian Vazquez, a 16-year old, moved from Guadalajara , Jalisco to the United States. He said that he moved because he wanted to meet some of his family in the US and took the decision to stay because he liked it more in the US than Mexico.
One of the reasons he liked the United States more is because of the school experience here and how students are treated, especially in California. Vazquez said that it’s a better environment for him.
At first , he was debating whether or not to live locally because he really liked Mexico, but his mind has been made up. He had to get used to the time change, which was one of the differences between Mexico and the US, but it was a small hurdle to surmount.
Still, Vazquez encourages visiting his beautiful home country because it’s a nice place to visit.
While he has chosen California, he hasn’t given up on Mexico. He still enjoys his carne asada tacos and hot dogs, like he did before he moved, but his American foods pizza and hamburgers.

The 6 Senior ASB Officers [Mark Silva], [Ethan Magno], [Mariza Supapo], [Kiera Tomko], [Ahri Aguba], and [Osaguina Sorae] arrive early to the game to help set up and boost school spirit, gathering at the fence to hype up the crowd as the sun sets behind the bleachers. Their coordinated shirts, painted by ASB officers in the past years, become a highlight of the event as students stop to take photo with them. The moment captures how school events bring students together through shared pride and energy.](https://the-armijo-signal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Photo-1-450x600.jpg)
