A New Language, a New Way of Life
Celestino is discovering a new world at Armijo.
Higinio Celestino Rodriguez is a long way from his home in Oaxaca, Mexico, but he is here for a great reason. He moved from Mexico because his dad was in the United States.
Celestino moved to California with his uncles earlier this year, but that meant he had and leave behind his brothers and he misses them a lot.
While he is still learning how to speak and understand English, Celestino has found things about the Armijo campus that he really enjoys. He likes his teachers and he likes to spend time with his friends.
Other things that he enjoys is playing basketball and listening to Latino music.
Graduation may seem a long way off, but Celestino is already making plans to stay in the community and get a job. But his biggest priority now is to learn the language and keep doing his best.

The 6 Senior ASB Officers [Mark Silva], [Ethan Magno], [Mariza Supapo], [Kiera Tomko], [Ahri Aguba], and [Osaguina Sorae] arrive early to the game to help set up and boost school spirit, gathering at the fence to hype up the crowd as the sun sets behind the bleachers. Their coordinated shirts, painted by ASB officers in the past years, become a highlight of the event as students stop to take photo with them. The moment captures how school events bring students together through shared pride and energy.](https://the-armijo-signal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Photo-1-450x600.jpg)
