Teacher Feature
Mr. Sherwood Fuellas comes from a very diverse background, but he is now teaching for the third year at Armijo. Here he teaches Living Earth Biology. “I also have taught at Matt Garcia Learning Center/College & Career Academy,” he said, a combination that adds up to six years of teaching.
Before going into teaching, Mr. Fuellas worked at several hotels in various positions, but that’s not all. “I worked as a cytology technician and as a warehouse employee for a natural stone company,” he said.
“I enjoy education in general and find that teaching helps me continuously as a learner. I try to stay connected with students personally and find joy in being a part of their learning,” said Mr. Fuellas.
His own educational experience is a little less complicated. “I attended high school in Hawaii – Pearl City High School – and college here locally – Solano Community College then transferred to UC Davis,” he said. This has given him some good insight. “. Try not to judge what your experience will be like compared to when you went to school,” he said. “It will be different… I try not to focus too much on what others might do or say. I just try to see what changes I could make to improve.”
Things that he enjoys include music, outdoors, cooking and just about any sport, but mostly football. He has family in Arizona and Hawaii. All three of his brothers are married with kids.

Their coordinated shirts, painted by ASB officers in the past years, become a highlight of the event as students stop to take photo with them. The moment captures how school events bring students together through shared pride and energy.](https://the-armijo-signal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Photo-1-450x600.jpg)
