Miggy Silva (Severo) – Officer Bio for ASB Office 2020 – 2021

Hi! My name is Miggy Silva and I am currently a junior. I was in Leadership for my Freshmen and Sophomore year where I fell in love with the program and made new friends. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to return to Leadership this year due to an unavailability in my schedule, but I am excited to return as a prospective ASB Officer this coming year!
A little bit about myself
I am 17 years old, and I am the eldest child of my family of 6. I was born in the Philippines but moved to California at a very young age where I currently live with my parents, Lola, and my younger brother and sister. I like to play the piano and trumpet where I perform songs from my favorite video games, movies, animes, and genres that I like to listen to. In my free time, I like to play on my PS4 and with my two siblings on the Nintendo Switch. I also enjoy reading fantasy and adventure novels, and I am on the Cross Country and Track team for Armijo.
Why I want to become an ASB Officer
I remember when I first attended the leadership orientation as a freshman. We were in the Rodriguez library and not in the Armijo gym that year for reasons I can’t remember. There were a row of chairs in which we were supposed to just pick any to sit down in. Not knowing where to go, I just sat in a row of chairs that were behind two people. As soon as I sat down those same two people immediately turned around and started talking to me. They told me that their names were Cameron and Aaron. Just from this small encounter, I immediately felt that I had some sort of connection to Leadership and that I had a pair of friends to which I could look up to within the program. From those two people, one would become an amazing ASB officer, the other a great mentor. As time would continue on, I would become more and more immersed within the program, joining the tracks of Sharleen and Kiana. The way the two ASB officers led their tracks each day and the energy that they brought to the program impacted me, and I realized that these two people really loved the leadership program. I knew back then that I wanted to be like them. I wanted to be the person that people in the program would look up to. They would be inspired by my energy and passion for Leadership and maybe one day, want to become an ASB officer, like how I wanted to become an ASB officer. I wanted to be one of the people that would strike up a conversation with a freshman who was just worried about where to sit on leadership orientation. I know that I wasn’t in leadership this year and I know that many of you may not know who I am but I want to change that. Like the ASB officers before myself, I want to make a meaningful impact to not only the Leadership program but to the school as a whole.
