Olivia has proven herself to be a leader throughout her high school career

Olivia Mauk has taken one of the Associated Student Body (ASB) officer positions as the Student Activities Officer, but this is only one area at Armijo that she has been involved in over the years.

Mauk joined the leadership program as a sophomore, but has been participating in events ever since her freshman year. She served as Class Secretary during her sophomore and junior years.

Not only is she one of the ASB officers, but she’s also a part of the National Honors Society (NHS), College and Career Club, Theatre program where she serves as the president of the Theater Club.

After high school, Mauk has the desire to attend a 4-year college like UC Davis or UC Berkeley, studying law and/or politics. She enjoys attending events that benefit, especially those like A-team games, and Color Run. She has recently enjoyed hosting music fest.

Her favorite parts of leadership are meeting people and seeing how they grow over the years. After serving two years as a class officer, she ran for ASB because she knew it was something she could handle and she knows how to lead. Some of her job in this position is to interact with students and see what they would like to see or take part in. She likes making sure everyone is included.

Mauk is the type of leader who likes planning, having solid plans and things for setting up events and having clear jobs for her committee. She’s also the type of leader who goes with the flow and is able to bounce back when changes happen and perceive through it. Her leadership strengths include everyone and getting everyone’s viewpoints in discussions and events. In terms of leadership Mauk believes that she could improve on being less of a perfectionist and also letting go of wanting for things to always go her way.

Throughout her years in leadership, Mauk has grown as a person and a leader, her confidence in being a leader has increased and has gained better leadership skills. For Mauk, leadership has been a very positive and rewarding experience. Leadership has taught her how to handle stress, working in a team, leading a team, and also reacting to problems and new people.
