According to Indeed, one of the most popular jobs for high school students is as a grocery store associate. They may stock shelves, work at the cash register or work in a specific department, like the bakery or seafood department. Students in these positions can be given one task or many tasks, which gives them good work experience with a variety of responsibilities. The national average is about $21.70 per hour.

Indeed also identifies babysitting as a popular job for teens. A babysitter’s primary job is to take care of children when the parents or guardians are away. Babysitting is an ideal job for high schoolers since parents often need their services in the evening or on weekends, so high schoolers can do it part-time during the school year. The national average is about $15.93 per hour.

A third popular job for teens would be pet sitting or working as a dog walker, according to Indeed. Dog walking is a good job opportunity for teens who love animals. Dog walkers usually visit clients’ homes to give their dogs exercise outside of the home and make sure the dog’s basic needs are met. Dog walking might be a better summer job opportunity since working adults will need someone to walk their dog during the owner’s usual business hours. The national average is $15.16 per hour.
