Beyoncé is an internationally known singer, songwriter, and performer. Famous for her award winning albums and singles, she’s one of the most influential performers of the 21st century. She has won 20 Grammys, has had 22 top songs, and has performed worldwide. Beyoncé has inspired millions with her lyrics and talent really showing that girls can run the world.
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas. Her love of music started at a young age as she sang and danced in local talent shows. Then, she formed her own group, “Destiny’s Child,” with her cousin, Kelly Rownland, and two classmates. The group landed its record deal with Columbia Records in 1997. Destiny’s Child grew into one of the most popular R&B groups with #1 singles and albums. This was just the start of Beyoncé’s career; it would only grow from here.
Beyoncé started to explore her own talent with her solo career. She released her first album, Dangerously in Love, in 2003. The album was a hit and won five Grammy Awards. In the following year Destiny’s Child released their final album but broke up shortly after. Beyoncé continued with a successful second album in 2006. In 2008, Beyoncé and Jay-z got married. This was followed by even more success with the songs Single Ladies and If I were a Boy.
Her talent has brought her to perform for Barack Obama, the Super Bowl, Coachella, and around the world. She’s broken records with her awards, music charts, and album sales. Recently she released Homecoming, her recorded performance from Coachella in 2018. She starred in Disney’s Lion King live action remake as the voice of Nala.
Beyoncé’s influence on the music industry has grown worldwide. She continues to be an outstanding and influential artist ruling the pop and hip hop industry.
