Justin likes to be involved and wants others to join him.

For Justin Lau, the easiest way to get involved with leading his class was to go into Student Government. This challenge would cause him to go beyond his comfort zone, so on September 16 he began his journey

He became the Secretary for the Class of 2024 and, in addition to helping run the meetings, he also became responsible for taking notes during the meetings. “I wasn’t particularly interested in the role,” he said. “It was just based on the votes that I got the role of secretary. My main obstacle as a class officer was Homecoming skits. I was one of the committee heads helped plan out dates for skit practices as well help lead the creation of backdrops and props.” This was challenging in one way because those events were cancelled during his freshman year.

I’m also willing to get my hands dirty

“If I could change one thing about Armijo, I’d say school funding, specifically to sports. I’ve noticed that there has been a trend of teams not getting adequate equipment or transportation,” he said.

Lau is very involved in school, attending events and having fun. “I’m also willing to get my hands dirty,” he said. His involvement goes beyond the Armijo campus, though. He plays basketball for Armijo as well as for a club team and helps coach kids at a recreational league at Allan Witt park. His hobbies include gaming, sleeping, and watching movies and TV shows.

The middle of three children, Lau has an older brother, Jonathan, who is currently a senior, and a younger brother, Jaden. “My role models are definitely my parents, family, NBA players like Kobe Bryant, my mentor Josh, and some of my teachers,” he said.
