Nia Young, Staff Writer & Editor-in-Chief

Nia Young is senior at Armijo High School, and is The Armijo Signal’s editor-in-chief. She is an aspiring communications major. Transferring over from Alta Loma High School her freshman year, she strives to accomplish great feats in her future journalism career. A graduate of Alta Loma Junior High in Rancho Cucamonga, Nia has always had a strong interest in storytelling, the arts, and self-expression. Her passion for communication and creativity led her to join the journalism class, where she now contributes articles, interviews, and her editing skills that highlight the Armijo community.

Nia enjoys exploring the emotions and stories behind the people she interviews, and she strives to make her work feel genuine and relatable. She loves the process of talking to others, learning about their perspectives, and turning those conversations into something meaningful. Whether she’s covering school events, spotlighting a student’s success, or commentating on current events, she aims to write with authenticity and purpose.

Outside of journalism, Nia enjoys drawing, listening to and creating music, and working on creative projects that blend visual and written storytelling. She’s passionate about creativity in all its forms, and hopes to pursue a career in journalism while working on music on the side, combining her love for design, writing, and human connection.

Through her work on The Armijo Signal, Nia hopes to grow as both a writer and a leader, using her voice to represent students and inspire others to share their own perspectives. She believes journalism is more than just reporting facts; it’s about giving people a reason to care and reminding them that every story, big or small, deserves to be heard.
