Emiliano Ulloa plays baseball in a junior league with Suisun. He has been dedicated to baseball since he was five years old. Other member of his family have been playing baseball for a very long time and the connection he feels to the sport comes naturally. “Once my dad showed me how to play, it immediately stuck to me,” Ulloa said.

Ulloa has played other sports, but not as competitively as he plays baseball. He has played soccer and basketball, but he has never really wanted to play in a league or an official team in those sports. He said that the most challenging sport to play is baseball. “I am really happy to take part in it,” he said. “I really love the mental aspect of the game.”

Ulloa plans to play throughout high school because he has several reasons to be involved in the sport: he plays for fun, to get fit, to get rid of stress, and, potentially, to get a scholarship. “I especially play to get rid of stress. Baseball is my way of forgetting about the things going on in life,” he said. “I do want to get a scholarship to play in college, but that’s in God’s hands.”

Not everyone has the same goals in sports. “It depends on what you want to do in your life as an athlete,” Ulloa said. “If you want to get a scholarship, then go for high school (sports), but if you want more competition, go for a travel ball league.”
