The Importance of Family

The+Importance+of+Family

fam·i·ly  /ˈfam(ə)lē/  noun

a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household.

From the moment you are born your family is there for you, protecting you and providing your basic needs. Your family is a huge part in influencing your character and thinking.

With that in mind, your family isn’t always biological. In March of this year, someone very close to me passed away. It was one of the most difficult things I have ever gone through. The day that I found out, my mom’s friends and my friends came to my house to see if I was okay and to offer me comfort over the course of the next week.

Throughout that journey, I discovered the importance of family. Family became something more than the people I lived with. I realized that family is people you choose as well.

My biological and non-biological family have helped shape who I am today. That day I realized that family isn’t just a six letter word its love, its comfort, and it’s one of the most important fundamentals of life.
