Girls’ Soccer fought hard for win, loss

Wednesday, January 25, Armijo’s Junior Varsity (JV) and Varsity Girls’ Soccer teams fought hard against Fairfield High. On the JV side, although the score was a 1-0 loss, they withstood a  power outage, and teammates fought hard for each other.

The Varsity team won their away game, 4-2 in a “head to head” goal scoring match. Goals were scored by: Lesly Mendoza scored two goals while Mia Ponce and Joselyn Godinez each put in one.

Midfielders Mendoza and Godinez, as well as Hannah Brackfield, Dianna Solorzano, Isabel Rojas, and Bessy Monge, created lots of opportunities to attack and helped slow down Fairfield’s attack.

Defenders Kayla Smith, Kayla Chrum, Miranda Rodriguez and Silva did a phenomenal job shutting down the attack in the second half.

Strikers Ponce and Fabiola Cisneros confused Fairfield’s defense, and created a TON of scoring opportunities with their collective play.

Lilly Fenn made some amazing saves throughout the entire match.
