CD Review: The Generous Mr. Lovewell

Generosity is something that can always be shared.

Generosity is something that can always be shared.

The fact that The Generous Mr. Lovewell by MercyMe was made in the early 2010’s makes a lot of sense. Whilst listening to it I could imagine it being a part of a soundtrack for a comedy/romance movie. The Generous Mr. Lovewell was made for the part of the movie where the main character begins turning his/her life around.

The Generous Mr. Lovewell is the sixth studio album by the Christian rock band MercyMe. According the MercyMe website The Generous Mr. Lovewell “represents those people in our lives who take advantage of every moment to make a difference regardless whether they get the spotlight or not. Believing it’s the little things that make a great big change.” I believe that, because of this description of this song, everyone should take a moment and give this song a listen. (That and the fact that it’s really good.)

I loved the positive and upbeat vibes this song gave off, although I have to admit that four minutes and twelve seconds is a little extreme, especially when the artist just says the same thing over and over again and the chorus/hook of the song never changes. Other than those small minor details, however, this song was really a hit!

I believe that the best thing about this song is the message. The character of Mr. Lovewell and his positivity can really put you in a good mood. Although I would normally never pick this song out myself — pop/rock is not my cup of tea — I genuinely did enjoy this song and its rhythm. This song was truly something of an inspiration and I will definitely have to add it to my playlist.
