Track athletes slow down to charge their batteries for success.

On Thursday, May 5, the track team was at Will C. Wood High School for Monticello Empire League (MEL) Finals. On Tuesday, May 3, the athletes had run trials in most events to determine the eight fastest runners who would earn the right to compete for the qualifying spots for divisionals. Please congratulate the following athletes for qualifying to move on to the next round:

Egypt Hughes, Anisteicia Kinsey, Cierra Kinsey, and Sanai Wilson took 1st place in the 4x100m relay with a NEW SCHOOL RECORD of 48.17s.

Lilian Luu placed 3rd in the mile with a time of 5:29.

Egypt Hughes and Cierra Kinsey qualified in the 100m taking 2nd and 3rd place (remember Egypt broke this school record on Tuesday so it was a pretty good week for her)

Cierra Kinsey and Anisteicia Kinsey qualified in the 200m taking 3rd and 4th.

Cristina Leanos placed 4th in the 2 mile in a time of 12:16.

Jericho Johnson won the shot put with a throw of 46 feet, 6 inches.

All of these athletes will be competing at the upcoming Divisionals meet in Stockton for the chance to continue on to Sections.
