Band performs in winning fashion.

The Band finally was able to perform for the first time in almost two years. “We have done nothing short of a miracle,” said Ms. Louise Jacob, band teacher. “Of course our first competition was at the Foothill Band Review, one of the hardest competitions in the Fall.”

Competitions continue throughout the season.

The Foothill Band Review took place on Saturday, October 23, and is usually the third review for performance, but this post-COVID year has put a crimp in the schedule. “By this time in a non COVID year this would have been our third and the nerves would have been out of their system,” said Ms. Jacob…

The Armijo Super Band won third in their Division 3A Parade and placed seventh out of 31 overall.

Timing is everything when it comes to flags.

In addition, the Guard team won third in the division and eighth out of 31overall, and Drum Major Dolores Almanza placed fifth of 31. In the music division, the Royals were fourth out of 31.

In each division, Armijo outscored our local rivals, Rodriguez and Fairfield.

“Our music programs have been on a thin ice for the last 12 years,” said Ms. Jacob. “COVID destroyed everything we have built.  To see them doing their best was the best part of the day.”
