Other important Characteristics About Me

One characteristic that I think makes me a great candidate for this position is that I am passionate about making people feel as great as I on a daily basis. I’m a really upbeat and positive person, and something that really wakes me up in the morning, is the possibility that I can literally impact a person’s life just by doing the small things. This past year in Leadership I’ve learned that the small gestures never go unnoticed and I think being such an approachable and positive person is a really important characteristic for this position.

How I Plan To Stay connected To Students To Make Sure Their Voices Are Heard

Something I recently brought up was that Leadership wasn’t doing enough for our student body. In unprecedented times like these, it is crucial to be of full support to our student body. I personally don’t believe that we as a whole have done enough to support our school in these crazy times. That being said I plan to send out a survey to the Student Body asking them to answer a few questions. After gathering this data, we should move forward knowing we have the interests of the Student Body in our hands and make some changes.

What in my opinion are the three most important issues facing students at Armijo High School and how I will address them:

The first most important issue facing students at Armijo is currently lack of social interaction. Of course, this is because of quarantine; however that should not mean us as a Leadership class shouldn’t put time and effort into planning and developing new events, structures, and guides to assist our student body during these times. I will address this issue, as I said before, by taking a survey and finding out what our students need most during these times.

The second most important issue facing students at Armijo is their rights. As we say this statement, the question gets raised as to what our rights even are. We have the right to ask questions, the right to an education, the right to eat lunch, and a right TO USE THE BATHROOM. I completely understand that there is “nothing I can do” to change this; however, taking away bathroom privileges to an entire student body who aren’t all contributors to the overall problem is unfair. I believe that using the bathroom is a students right period. I understand the issue of the mess that some of our students create… but I also believe that our school staff and administration is far too intelligent to simply close the bathrooms rather than coming up with a better solution to this problem.

Lastly, the third most important issue facing students at armijo is our campus. We have such a huge campus which has potential to be extremely beautiful and welcoming. However our campus is honestly dull and could use retouches. Not only that, but we should have buildings for every class. Our school should put fundings toward the betterment of our campus in order to improve the betterment of our school’s overall environment. I would love to walk past colorful walls and beautiful school buildings rather than portable classrooms.
