Our ASB Secretary of 2020-21: Flor Martinez
Last spring, in the midst of a pandemic, Flor Martinez ran for a position as an Associated Student Body (ASB) officer. When all was said and done, she was appointed to the position of ASB secretary.
Martinez started her foray in Leadership in her freshman year and served on a variety of committees over the years: Karaoke Night, Homecoming Skits and more. But Leadership is only part of how she was involved in Armijo over the years.
“I have been involved with sports such as Cross Country and Track & Field for the last three years,” she shared in her biography before elections. “I’m also a dancer, so you may have seen me dance at Music Fest the last two years.”
Martinez was a winner of the Girls State program, a leadership program to raise awareness and knowledge of governmental processes. “There were over 25 girls competing for that position but I set my mind to do it and I did that!” she said.
She considers herself “energetic…, persistent, very caring, and devoted to what I set my mind to” and said that she plans “to lift up our energy levels up every morning and bring positive vibes to the room.” This goal has been challenged by COVID-19, but Martinez continues to participate in the event planning and looks forward to a return to campus. Unfortunately, she was not able to respond to more updated questions.
