Yakira puts the FUN in Fundraisers
My name is Yakira Hollis. I’m currently a junior at Armijo High School, soon to be a senior. This is my second year in Journalism, but my first year as a Fundraiser editor.
My job in that position is mostly designing fundraising flyers to be posted in The Armijo Signal, but I have also designed other flyers as well.
As a freshman, I chose journalism, looking forward to trying something new and to get better at writing. Although I didn’t participate in my sophomore year because I had so much to balance and it wasn’t a class that year, returning in my junior year was the best decision I made. I met new friends this year and I got better at writing throughout the year.
I enjoy writing CD reviews and DVD reviews and writing for the paper brings me so much joy. Being in journalism is a nice experience and it helped me these years to become a better writer.
Journalism may be the career path I choose in the future, and for anyone interested in the class, I highly recommend it, especially if you love writing or want to try something new.
