Far from Home
There are almost as many students in Aime Rivera’s Armijo PE class as there were in the small town she lived in in Mexico. When her sister decided to move away from the tiny village and go to California, Rivera knew that she wanted to come along, so in January she joined her sister and started attending Armijo High School.
It hasn’t been easy coming to a country that doesn’t always understand her, and Rivera did say that she misses her mother most, but she had no intention to move back to Mexico.
After she graduates, Rivera plans to eventually become a lawyer, but she is not sure where she wants to go to college. One of her more immediate goals, however, is to become completely bilingual as she is still learning English. With a second language, she will be able to help more people, defending them and making their lives better.

The 6 Senior ASB Officers [Mark Silva], [Ethan Magno], [Mariza Supapo], [Kiera Tomko], [Ahri Aguba], and [Osaguina Sorae] arrive early to the game to help set up and boost school spirit, gathering at the fence to hype up the crowd as the sun sets behind the bleachers. Their coordinated shirts, painted by ASB officers in the past years, become a highlight of the event as students stop to take photo with them. The moment captures how school events bring students together through shared pride and energy.](https://the-armijo-signal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Photo-1-450x600.jpg)
