If you really enjoy something, you often try to find a way to do it year after year. Mr. Joe Klapper really enjoys coaching high school golf and has been doing it for the past seven years. The Girls’ team plays in the fall, and the Boys’ team plays in the spring, so Coach Klapper gets to be on the course throughout the school year.

“I love the sport of golf and helping people recognize it as a sport you can play for life,” he said. This is the first and only place he’s coached and he said that he appreciates the obscurity of the sport. “I enjoy coaching golf here because it’s not really recognized as a popular sport, so to have students want to play it is awesome,” Coach Klapper said.

Besides being coach of the golf teams, he is also a teacher at Armijo. He is the department chair of the Social Science department and teaches Economics and Theory of Knowledge. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf as well as watching other sports. He also likes to play Fortnite and other video games with his friends and spending time with his wife and kids.
