It’s extremely important that the body has enough water to function properly.

Sometimes we forget that our body sweats, even in the cold weather. Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do for your body.

“Drinking enough water each day is crucial for many reasons: to regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly,” according to Harvard (https://bit.ly/3odxkpK).

Being hydrated provides many benefits and improves your sleep quality, learning ability, and overall mood. Especially while in school, many of us forget to bring a water bottle to keep ourselves hydrated. If you have trouble staying hydrated, Family Doctor (https://bit.ly/3lrNEkS), gives us a few tips that can help!

  • If you don’t like the taste of plain water, try adding a slice of lemon or lime to your drink.
  • When you’re feeling hungry, drink water. Thirst is often confused with hunger. True hunger will not be satisfied by drinking water. Drinking water may also contribute to a healthy weight-loss plan. Some research suggests that drinking water can help you feel full.
  • If you have trouble remembering to drink water, drink on a schedule. For example, drink water when you wake up, at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and when you go to bed. Or drink a small glass of water at the beginning of each hour.

The Family Doctor also tells us some signs that can signal whether or not you are dehydrated.

  • Sleepiness or fatigue
  • Extreme thirst
  • Headache
  • Confusion
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness

If you are experiencing any of those conditions, make sure to drink some water. Stay hydrated, Royals!
