Gerald may not know the future, but he is definitely learning from the present.

Gerald Ramos is a the secretary of the sophomore class of 2019. What he likes the most about being secretary is being able to help coordinate the class for when leadership is planning an event or put on things like homecoming or fundraisers. When Ramos was asked what his job consisted of he replied, “My job consists of signing things that our class approves whether it be to purchase something or make a move on an event we want to do. However, really it doesn’t separate me from the rest of my peers. Everything we do is a team effort and the job doesn’t mean I’m really above or in charge of anyone.”

One of the things that Ramos has discovered recently is that his leadership skills have changed due to his position as secretary. It has kept him engaged with not only his class, but also the people he works with. He uses these skills on daily basis when he voices his opinion.

Ramos does not know his plans for next year and hasn’t decided whether or not he wants to run for office again, but he does encourage other people to take the leadership class and to run for office. “You get to meet, form friendships, and work with so many great people. Leadership allows you to grow along with your peers,” he said.
