The National Defense Act of 1916 authorized the first JROTC units. The 88th Congress of the  United States through Public Law 88-647 established the Air Force Reserve Officer’s Training  Corps (AFJROTC) program on October 13, 1964. With a modest beginning of 20 units in  1966, Air Force Junior ROTC has grown to over 600 units throughout the world.  

The Armijo AFJROTC California 71st (CA-071) Cadet Group was activated in  September 1972 at the start of the 1972-1973 school year. Our cadet group enjoys a proud  tradition and a fine reputation having been recognized many times as an AFJROTC Meritorious  or Outstanding Unit.
