Picnics, camping and parties are much more fun on ice.

Grab the ice chest and get ready for the first long weekend since February. National Cooler Day on May 28 is a great way to celebrate Memorial Day.

This holiday, first celebrated in 2019, is scheduled for the Friday before Memorial Day. (National Cooler Day). Pour in the ice and fill the cooler up with sodas, teas and waters, and this handy device makes it easy to stay cool all summer.

“As simple as the design of a cooler may seem, it wasn’t until the 1950s that the first cooler or “portable ice box” made the scene. In fact, the material needed to make coolers didn’t even exist until 1944,” National Day Calendar says.

Coolers might seem pretty generic, but there are different coolers for different needs. Will you spend the day at the beach or camping? Will you need to carry food for days or just for an afternoon? If you truly want to enjoy the benefits of National Cooler Day, you might want to consider finding the right one. Check out the suggestions here: Tom’s Guide.
