International Guitar Month occurs every year in April. During this month people do lots of things to celebrate guitars. According to https://www.guitarhistoryfacts.com, Gaetano Vinaccia invented the guitar in 1821. Vinaccia was born in 1759 in Naples, Italy. His family continued making similar instruments such as mandolins and violins, but the guitar grew in popularity. About 2.5 million guitars are made each year. “According to The Music Trades website’s industry census of the United States guitar market, there are about 2.5 million guitars sold each year in the US” (https://www.thegearpage.net), meeting the needs of about 8% of the players annually.
