Being a single parent has double the work, but is still rewarding.

National Single Parent Day honors the heroes of the home annually on March 21, but these days when single parents are striving to work hard, participate in distance learning, and support a family, they should be supported and encouraged every day.

A lot of sacrifices must be made by single parents. Without the balance between of a second caregiver, the single parent must give up his or her social life or find a babysitter for every social occasion. It is difficult to put the goal of supporting children before chasing your own dreams.

A single parent can be the mother or father with no spouse to help raise the child (or children). There are several reasons one would be a single parent: Divorce, break-up, abandonment, death of the other parent, childbirth by a single person, or adoption by a single person.

All single parents need a round of applause… All parents deserve a round of applause. Use today to do something special for a single parent in your own life, whether it is your parent, your sibling or your neighbor and give them thanks. You might also celebrate this day by honoring them with a special gift of time or care.
