It’s not just hearts that people share.

The heart is possibly the most important organ in the body, and everyone recognizes that it is celebrated on Valentines’ Day in February, but it is not the only organ in the body and all of them deserve attention. February14 has also been designated National Organ Donor Day!

This day is focused more on spreading awareness about all types of organ donations – like eyes, heart, lungs, and kidneys – as well as donations of tissue, blood, platelets and marrow.

According to www.donatelife.net , this day is not only for spreading awareness but “also to recognize those who have given and received the gift of life through organ, eye and tissue donation”.

National Organ Donor Day was originally created in 1998 by the Saturn Corporation with the help of other nonprofit organizations. Depending on your age and compatibility, there are a lot of ways one can become a donor and it starts with registering your stats on a donor registry.

If you are at least 18 years old, you can sign up at https://donatelifecalifornia.org/ and register to be a donor. You can also add your willingness to donate your organs on your driver’s license. The more people you tell that you are a donor, the more likely you will be able to share the gift of life with others in need.

The donations of one person can save multiple lives. Are you willing to consider being a hero for others? Read this story about a football player who saved seven lives, just because he opted to donate his organs. https://rb.gy/qcqtln
