If you love books and want to share with others how much you find books aesthetically-pleasing, boy, do I have a national day for you! On January 27, you can find the hashtag #LibraryShelfie or #LibraryShelfieDay, where bookworms like you can appreciate books of all formats.

By sharing a picture of your bookshelf or just your favorite books, either at your local library or at home, you can join in the experience. Paperback or hardcover (or even eBook and audiobook), Library Shelfie Day is a day to share the love of books.

Library Shelfie Day has been the fourth Wednesday of January since the New York Public Library founded the idea in 2014. Usually the New York Public Library posts pictures of their staff exploring the shelves by their favorite genres or authors, but this year could be a bit different due to COVID-19.

Even if you’re unable to go to the library, whatever you have to read at home should work to share the love of stories. You can also go further in participating in this bookish holiday by arranging your collection with a specific pattern to make it even more appealing. Choose color, size, or even spell out a message. These are all suggestions from the National Day Calendar on ways to participate more creatively than the average bear.

So, on January 27, if you have a social media account of any kind, post a picture of your favorite books (and yourself, if you can!) with the #LibraryShelfieDay to spread the shelf love.
