Keep your focus and reach your goals.

Since so many people choose a healthy diet as part of their New Year’s resolution, it should come as no surprise that the first week of January is considered Diet Resolution Week. Celebrating this week is not just about food, but also includes working out to get fit, because it is all about health.

Two of the most popular questions people ask about losing weight is, “Do I need to work out while being on a diet?” and “Do I need to be on a certain diet while working out?” The answer to both of those is, “Yes!”

According to most studies, working out alone usually doesn’t help with weight loss, but it can work for some people depending on their age. To maintain better weight loss, you should consider also going on a diet. “Exercise while ignoring your diet just isn’t a good weight loss strategy,” said exercise physiologist Katie Lawton, M.Ed. Just as there are many ways to work out, both outside and inside the gym, there are also many diets to choose from including intermittent fasting, a plant-based diet, The Mediterranean diet, Weight Watchers and more.

Currently, one of the most popular diets is the keto diet. This diet eliminates carbs. Instead, people on this diet mainly eat foods that are high and fat – vegetables, cheese, meat, nuts, seeds and anything with berries (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries). The cause behind being on keto is “A ketogenic diet can be used to achieve weight loss, blood sugar management, and other health-related goals.” (shorturl.at/vENUZ)  Once you’re on this diet or any diet, it’s better to stick to it as a lifestyle or it won’t be worth it because what it could do to your diet when you stop any diet.

Cecilia Rubio, a local dietitian, confirmed that the combination of diet and exercise is the best way to lose weight in a healthy and quick manner, laying a foundation for a healthy and happy 2021.
