Who could turn down a chance to eat a sweet treat?

National Pro-Life Cupcake Day, October 9, is a day when people bake cupcakes to honor the lives of people who aren’t born yet. It is sort of like a worldwide baby shower, but it is more than that. This day also raises awareness to abortion.

Cupcakes are given to neighbors, friends and even strangers and open up a conversation about pro-life topics. Cupcakes are a good way to get a conversation started, especially something with such controversy.

Since this day honors the unborn, it gives everyone a chance to celebrate, even if a child is not brought into the world due to miscarriage or abortion. While the official title involves cupcakes, it is simply a day to get together and promote the Pro-Life message, that all lives are important. Other treats could be substituted, so long as the message remains the same.

To participate, bakers might choose to share cupcakes, but putting up flyers or simply inviting neighbors to talk can be a way to spread the message, too.

National Pro-Life Cupcake Day started in 2009, and it has a powerful purpose. According to All.org, there are over 2300 babies aborted every day. In 2017, the number of abortions that year were 862,320, and the discussions on National Pro-Life Cupcake Day try to find a positive way to share these sad statistics. Cupcakes are sweet and non-judgmental, and they can make these stats a lot easier to swallow.
