Pair a denim jacket with a turtleneck and you’re on your way to Vintage.

Welcome, ladies. I’m going to take you back to a time in the 1960s where it all began. The 1960s is where what we call vintage fashion was the contemporary styles of the day.

“Vintage” is a term that came from wine terminology and now there are many stores that sell vintage clothing. A few of those stores are Wildcat Vintage Clothing in Napa, Hot Couture in Santa Rosa, and Elisa’s Cottage and Pocket Monkey Vintage, both in Benicia.

You may not have to drive as far as those stores, though, if you know how to put together the vintage outfit that fits your style. Now, ladies, if you really want the inside scoop on how to get cheap vintage clothing, don’t be scared to go thrifting! There’s so much you can find for a very low price.

Start off with denim shorts and add a sweet floral top, tucking it into the shorts. This is a simple way to look vintage. A more sophisticated vintage outfit may be a dress paired with a pearl necklace for a feminine way to tie together a vintage look.

A few shoes that will go with any casual vintage look would be Converse in black or white.

Vintage is very important to the fashion world. Don’t forget the make-up. If you want to go with a low key look, definitely go with a natural brushed brow with light nude eyeshadow and don’t forget the gloss! But if you go out or want to get a little crazy, a gloss lid is classy and extra all together they even out.

Now for a fashion quote of the month: “Elegance is the only beauty that never fades” – Audrey Hepburn. So long, and don’t be scared to venture into the vintage fashion world.
