One of the best parts of winter is vacation.  Everyone loves to travel, so here are some great places that you should consider traveling to this winter.

A very popular winter travel destination is Lake Tahoe.  Lake Tahoe is already a fun place year-round, but it is especially fun when it turns into a snowy winter wonderland.  Aurora Wortham said,  “I love Lake Tahoe! It is my favorite place to go to in the winter because there is so much to do and it gives off such a nice and cozy vibe.”  It has over a dozen ski resorts where you can go skiing, snowboarding, or just sledding if you aren’t into extreme sports.  There are many great stores where you can go shopping and a lot of tasty restaurants where you can eat as much as you want.

Another place that is famous, but much less crowded in the winter, is Napa.  With the recent events of the California wildfires, Napa needs visitors more than ever.  It is a very beautiful city, famous for its vineyards and wine.  Winter is the best time to go because you can see the town in all its beauty without the crowds that come during other seasons.  “I drive to Napa with my family all the time,” said Cristal Mejia. “It is so pretty there and it’s so relaxing to drive through the back roads.”  Napa is also fairly close to Fairfield and Suisun so it’s not a very far drive compared to some other travel destinations.

If you’re an animal lover and you’re willing to go for a long drive, Monterey is an amazing place to visit in the winter.  Winter is the season where monarch butterflies and whales migrate.  Seeing these animals up close is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  The Monterey Bay Aquarium can give you an even closer look at these animals.  However, Monterey can get very chilly in the winter, so be sure to bring plenty of warm clothes and jackets!
