Kamal Searvance, Staff Writer

Kamal Searvance Class of 29 Grade 9 at Armijo High School and coming from Grange Middle School, also in his first year in a journalism class. Kamal stated that he never gave much thought about Journalism, but decided to take the chance of trying something new. Outside of school, Kamal has a variety of interests that keep him busy. One of his biggest passions is drawing. He learned to draw in Now with over five years of experience under his belt, Kamal credits his older sister for teaching him the basics and encouraging him to keep improving. His favorite thing to draw is people, while people are often considered more difficult to draw, Kamal finds them easier because he enjoys capturing facial expressions, body language, and emotion through his sketches. Another activity Kamal likes to do is to cook. He likes to cook lots of things, but he dislikes to cook anything that has to be fried because it uses too much oil. He learned he was good at cooking when he had to cook for his family on thanksgiving, at 12 years old! He doesn’t much like cooking with others so he spends his time cooking alone. Whether he’s sketching in his notebook or experimenting with new recipes, Kamal enjoys finding ways to express himself creatively, As he continues his high school journey, he hopes to keep exploring new interests just like he did when he took the chance on his journalism.
