Don’t Be Foolish…Or Maybe Do!
Unleash your dopey side by enjoying this year’s foolishly comedic fall play. Ms. Sheena Beeson, along with the rest of Armijo’s Theatrical Productions team, are producing the play Fools. Set in the Victorian Era, the late Neil Simon’s play, described by Ms. Beeson herself, is “a ridiculous comedy about people that are cursed with stupidity.”
Have a laugh in T-2 (our Black Box Theater) on November 1, 2, 3, 15, 16, and 17 at 7pm. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students (whether high school or college), and $4 for students with Gold Cards. Very soon, there will be a link set up for pre-purchasing tickets online.
There are ten characters in Fools who have all been cast. The lead couple, Leon and Sophia, is played by Alex Padgett and Cheyenne Shaver, respectively. The main set is an entire town square—or, more realistic to the limited space, a painting of the entire town square.
The reason behind this play out of any other, is not just to honor Neil Simon, who died last August, but to release some tension that being a student can build up. “I decided to do this play because I love comedies,” Ms. Beeson said. ”Sometimes it’s good to do plays that are moving and emotional and are healing for people in that way. Sometimes it’s good to do plays that are hilarious and just make you laugh and are healing in that way. So everything we do, we do it for the audience.”
