Around the World club raises money to fight breast cancer

This October, Around the World club will be hosting its fourth annual breast cancer awareness fundraiser. Teachers will receive a pink cup to collect change throughout the month. For the competitive, teachers can challenge fellow teachers to a friendly competition, earn bragging rights, and become entered in a raffle.

To participate, students and staff can simply donate change, which will be sent directly to the National Breast Cancer Association. According to the National Breast Cancer Association, “Breast cancer is one of the leading health crises for women in the United States. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. There is currently no known cure for breast cancer, and its early diagnosis is critical to survival.” For every $100 raised by the fundraiser, a woman in need will receive a mammogram.

In past years, Around the World Club has raised more than $1,500 in donations to support breast cancer awareness.  The advisor of Around the World club is Ms. Plecenik. Around the World club meetings take place every week on Mondays in room E-5. The club welcomes new members and the club hosts many opportunities for CAS hours.
