Game Review | We get an HD Upgrade |
Games are often seen as something violent and brash, with either humor or brutality as its only selling point. However, Okami HD is a new take on the idea of beautiful traditional Sumi-e ink painting and Japanese mythology. Additionally, Okami HD is not the first of the gorgeously artistic Okami games, but instead a remake of an old classic on a new console: The Nintendo Switch. It was released by Clover Studio of Japan.
The game was originally created to accompany the Playstation 2 in 2006 and has grown in popularity with the release of Okami on the Nintendo Wii. Centering on the Goddess of the sun, Amaterasu, players follow a storyline woven with mythology and player-interactive cutscenes.
On August 8, Okami HD became available on the Nintendo Switch along with the more recent Playstation consoles!
“Ōkami is truly one of the most incredible games ever crafted, and you’re doing yourself a disservice if you look at it as a “Zelda clone”.”

“Okami HD is an utterly fantastic piece of software, and we feel you’d be doing yourself a disservice to pass on it. “
-Nintendo Life
“Marking its first outing on a handheld device, Okami HD retains all of the elegance and charisma from even its non-HD days, packing it all into an epic adventure with a budget price and intuitive control inputs.”
