From Fairfield to Sacramento

Nandi Smith is one of over 500 seniors and she will be joining many of them at
the graduation ceremony on Friday, June 8. This month, however, the Armijo Signal is
looking at her as the final Senior Spotlight of the 2017-2018 school year. It hasn’t been
easy, but it has been fun. “”The challenge being a senior is staying motivated to do your
work,” she said.
Smith has attended Armijo High School since she was a freshman, participating
in track and field and cheerleading at different times over the years. Those days as an
Armijo Indian are coming to an end, though, and she has her sights set on becoming a
Hornet. “I want to go to college at Sacramento State,” she said.
For the most part, Smith has enjoyed her time at Armijo. “I like how it is a big
campus and that there’s a lot of people at this school,” she said. “I like the events they
planned and being able to hang out with my friends.”
Years from now, when she is working and taking care of a family, Smith expects
to look back with fond memories about her four years as an Armijo student.
