Wrestling Highlights

Friday, February 23, at the CIF Girls State Wrestling Championships at the Visalia Convention Center, Armijo student, Dyanna Gutierrez, took 5th place. Gutierrez dropped her first match but later she won 4-2 against Alexandra Caballos from Inderkum High School.

On the boys wrestling team, Nikko Mendoza, Galen Kimball and Tommy Nguyen all qualified to compete at the San-Joaquin Section Masters Championship in the Stockton Area. Mendoza won 3-2 on his Friday matches and later fell on Saturday, February 24, to Conner Shirar from Vacaville, who placed 6th overall. Kimball and Nguyen both fell out on Friday with 0-2.
