Fairfield Youth Commission Update
Progress towards future plans.
The Fairfield Youth Commission did not hold any formal meetings over the summer, but the individual committees did come together and discuss plans for the fall. The PAL center is expecting many more activities that will bring all walks of life together and decrease the tension between law enforcement and adolescents through- possibly- laser tag, coffee, and seminars. Students should expect workshops later this year that will help them succeed in college.
Although the Commission is short of some of its members as of now due to college-bound high school graduates, it is going to go through its annual training in September to review topics such as the Brown Act, Robert’s Rules of Order, communication, and differences between good and bad commissioners. Along with the September training, the Commission is going to meet every Monday during October (except Halloween) to get more detailed guidelines on how to work as a proper youth representative.
