Parents Join Students for a Successful Event
The annual Back to School Night was held at Armijo High School from 6 to 8 pm on
Thursday, August 31. At this event, parents started in the gym to meet the principal before
following their children’s day-to- day schedule, first through sixth periods. They met the teachers
and learned a little about the classes. It can sometimes be difficult for students and or parents to
find their children’s classes in the five minutes provided for passing period the long trips were
sometimes impeded by the younger siblings that came along.
This year they had some new things, including tables for different groups and
organizations as well as games and activities going on. The Army even had a rock-climbing wall
at their recruiting station. One table was set up with information helping seniors into college and
others were set up for Grad Nite and more.
The teachers prepared for this day in many different always. Some had slide-shows or
hand-outs so they could present their information in the 14-minute time limit. There were even a
few teachers who provided refreshments for the parents.
By 8 pm, most of the teachers, parents and students had cleared the campus and the
following day the school schedule ended at 12:40 to offset the late evening.
