Junior and senior year is the abrupt change between being so far to graduating high school, to being so close to finally finishing high school. This massive transition between lowerclassman to upperclassman years is exciting but dreadful for most people. On a positive note, high school is almost over and various career paths are just steps ahead. On the other hand, with the end vastly approaching, motivation and dedication with assignments plummet, some faster than others. Without exaggeration, senioritis is unavoidable, especially days before graduation, but there are ways you can pull yourself up until the end of the year.
Junior year is often labeled as “the worst year of high school” due to the great responsibility to handle prior to senior year. However, junior year is where everyone’s motivation is still growing strong. Use junior year to take on leadership in extracurricular activities and take part in school events as it will alleviate the part that makes junior year so dreadful. To prepare for senior year, choose classes you think will be the most relaxing and prepare for the fun yet busy year.
Senior year is full of anticipation for graduation, while it may be a good thing, it leads to senioritis, the lack of motivation and work ethic when assignments endlessly pile up especially with responsibilities beyond school added on top. Though some assignments have hard deadlines, it is important to pace yourself with work. While assignments may seem overwhelming, sometimes it’s the thought of the “hefty” assignment that is the sole obstacle. Senior year is the year where you have to prioritize certain assignments and get them over with for as much break time as possible. While pushing assignments until the last minute might be completely fine at first, it ends up becoming a terrible habit that will create greater stress with a heavier workload with a harsher deadline at the end of the year. On times where you have free time, especially during the first semester, take a well deserved break as keeping yourself busy may burn you out faster. Attending school events or even taking a break from assignments for a day will build back motivation and reduce the chance of burning out from senioritis. Senior year will have you exhausted from the past eleven years of school work, but finishing strong with good grades by preventing yourself from burning out is much better.
