Every year, millions of people travel to destinations all around the world for spring break. This year, an estimated 173 million Americans were expected to take to the skies, with 71% of those people planning on traveling domestically and 29% planning to travel abroad. The top domestic destinations this year were Florida (Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Tampa), Atlanta, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Internationally, the top destinations were Mexico (Cabo and Cancun), the Caribbean (Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic), Rome, Paris, and London.

Here at Armijo, a few of our very own students also traveled to these popular destinations. Around campus, students shared plans to visit places like the Caribbean, Mexico, and Southern California during the break. Marlene Padilla Martinez, an Armijo student, shared her plans about her upcoming spring break trip, saying, “I’m planning to go to L.A. for 5 days with my family. We’re going to Disneyland for two days and explore L.A. for the other 3 days.” Marlene is looking forward to her trip with her family, making new memories, and exploring Los Angeles to see what it has to offer.
While some students traveled, most stayed home to relax, reconnect with friends and family, and catch up on school work. When asked about recommended activities, Armijo student Maybelin Ascencio Sanchez suggested, “I would recommend spending time with your friends and family and getting your missing assignments done.” With only two months of school left after the break, it’s a great time to recharge and get things done so you don’t have to stress.
Spring break is more than just a break from school, but a chance to explore new places, enjoy personal time, reconnect with family and friends, and even catch up on schoolwork. Marlene shared her thoughts on spring break saying, “I like spring break and think it’s a good idea because we get time to ourselves and we don’t get a lot of breaks during the second semester.” Her opinion shows the importance of the break as in between the busy school year, it is important to take a break to help us relax and recharge.
