The gray wolf, known more simply as , the wolf, is most common and native in North America. In nature they are highly intelligent animals who hunt in packs, but they are also caring and playful with their young. In recent years since 2011 after the last gray wolf was killed in California and then they were re-established with some wolfs have been coming in from Oregon. In 2015, the first new pack of wolfs were re-established yet again, and by 2019 there were seven gray wolfs and as of now that number has since doubled to 45 according to the California department of fish and wildlife. It is a stunning comeback in just over a decade for the state of California with the numbers only doubling by the years but what was the reasons for its disappearance for the next 87 years in California? In 1924 exactly a century ago the last gray wolf to be known was fatally shot and the native species had completely vanished which lead to the protection of the animal under the ESA ,Endangered Species Act, and which lists the animal as endangered. And their biggest threat? Humans.

Celina Quezada, Staff Writer
My name is Celina Quezada, I am originally from Grange Middle School and am now in grade 12th. The reason I have signed up for journalism is because I am interested in the topic of current ongoing media events, and this feels like the classroom to be in for this interest of mine. I also have a goal for this class, to improve my writing skills, which is also why I chose to be in this class. Another goal I have is to improve my social skills. Some details of my life I want my readers to know about are that I am currently taking an advanced building trade and this year it's going to be expanding from woodworking to carpeting and electrical work. But one challenge I am facing in both journalism and building trade is team building, which is what both classes have. I will have to prepare for that because I usually try to avoid it when I can since I am not social. My biggest goal of all is to graduate with all 10 of my fingers since I am in an advanced building trade.
