Peyton Brown was a freshman on the Girls Varsity Softball team this 2023-2024 school year. This was her first time officially playing on a team. As you might already know, a freshman making it into varsity is a huge deal. She states, “Varsity is a really good experience. It’s a lot of pressure but the team makes it a very welcoming environment.”Brown looks up to all the upperclassmen on the team for inspiration. Her number is number seven and she plays the positions of shortstop and outfield, mostly leftfield. Number seven’s coaches and teammates would describe her as a very hard-working and determined person. Her daily schedule used to be school, practice, and then going home to rest, where she finishes off her day and does some homework. This was her routine every day during the softball season. Brown hopes to play again next year when she’s a sophomore.
To mentally prepare herself for softball, she listens to music to lock in and give herself motivation. A fun fact about Peyton Brown is that she is not only a freshman who made it into the Girls Varsity Softball team, but she also made it into the Girls Varsity Basketball team. She expresses that making it into varsity for these two sports is her biggest accomplishment. Adding on, when she was asked if she would like to still continue softball in the future, she explained, “I would like to continue but I think at some point I have to commit to one sport and I choose basketball.” Back to softball, Brown has learned to work on her mental health when playing this sport. “It’s taught me to get out of my head and that mistakes are gonna happen and there’s nothing you can do to prevent that. You just gotta keep pushing forward and have a positive mindset,” she explains. Speaking of mindset, her number one goal on the field is to always do what she can to help out the team. Peyton Brown is a remarkable, talented, and very athletic person. Be on the lookout for her amazing work next year!
