Armijos 2023-2024 powerpuff season just ended! With a great effort from their players and cheerleaders. Powderpuff at Armijo is where the girls are encouraged to play flag football on the field, and the boys cheer for them on the sidelines. This powderpuff season was able to happen all because of Leadership teacher Casey Towner.
The powderpuff game this year was May 24, 2024 on Armijos football field. JVs starting time was 4:30pm and Varsitys was 6. JV is considered the Freshman vs the Sophomores, and varsity is considered the Juniors vs Seniors. Before and During the JV game the crowd was convinced that sophomores were going to win. At the last few seconds of the clock both teams were tied before Aseri Tuufuli on the Freshmen team made the winning point for class of 2027 at the very last second of the game. Giving a shocking win to the freshmans. It wasn’t an overwhelming shock that the Juniors won against the Seniors since for the majority of the game they were ahead. But in both cases the younger opponent won.
The real show stoppers in Powderpuff were the cheerleaders. Who executed not just good executed and funny routines, but showed their competitive spirit when cheering for their teams on the sideline. The Freshmen and Juniors had similar choreography, and game day wear. Both of these two teams executed pretty clean routines. While the Seniors and Sophomores were more focused on the crowd being entertained with what they were showcasing.
