Armijo’s Baseball team hits, and reaches a Home Run! The joy on many people’s faces is light, but the brightest and proudest would be Coach Towner. Mr. Towner has been a long-running Armijo Baseball coach for a couple of years now, starting when he was just 17! Early in his Freshman year of College, he decided to become an Armijo Junior Varsity Coach. At first, Towner wasn’t very sure of what he wanted to initially do before he became a Junior Varsity coach. Mr. Towner was an assistant coach for JV for about 1 year until he was promoted to Head Coach for JV. He continued to stay as JV’s Head Coach for 3 years and passed along as a Varsity coach, which he has been doing for 5 years. (and ongoing!)
Each year, Coach Towner wishes for the best of his team. Some of his many wishes would be to see his students succeed and be able to give them an opportunity in baseball. One of the many physical drills he loves to do with his team would be infield and outfield drills, which help with their defense. Fundraising is also another way Coach Towner wishes for the best. Playing baseball his whole life, he knows what improvement looks like. Seeing a player achieve and strive is something he (and the player) can reflect on, expressing how far he has come along and is able to inspire.
