If you´re an Armijo Student you may have noticed a change in procedures on campus and as some would say being more “strict” on students about going to class and other things in relation to attendance. Armijo has new attendance policies to make sure students get to class and stay in class. They are doing this because they are noticing that a lot of students are not doing so well in their classes and they want them to succeed. They have started to send students to other school options like Golden Hills for not going to class because they have strong reason to believe if a student has chosen not to go to class it is because they are not engaged with school. Being a student I can understand how students believe that “ they do not care about them” but really they are trying to make the school a better place and lead everyone in the right path for them.
After some time I feel students are finally getting adjusted to the new policy, although there are still students that skip class and hide from campus monitors. Some students may feel like the principal is trying to punish them but in reality they are trying to help them graduate and be ready for the real world, because it is not that easy.
As the weeks go by with these new policies there are still students who choose not to go to class but it is a lesser majority than previously. In my opinion, a good attendance policy should just be if you have a certain amount of absences with no excuse the school should be able to unenroll you. In conclusion, I think new attendance policies are great and hope other students can abide by the rules.
